Shop Visit Safety
Shop providers are responsible for maintaining a safe environment for customers, staff, and vehicles on-site. These are the basics every shop on the platform should have in place.
Work Area
- 1
Clear and organized floor
- Keep floors clear of tools, fluids, and debris — slips and trips are the most common shop injury
- Ensure adequate lighting across all work areas
- 2
Lift and jack safety
- Only use rated lifts and stands — inspect before each use
- Chock wheels and engage safety locks before going under any vehicle
- Never allow customers under a lifted vehicle
- 3
Fire safety
- Keep a charged fire extinguisher accessible at all times
- Store flammable fluids in approved containers away from heat and ignition sources
Waste and Fluid Disposal
- 1
Proper disposal required
- Dispose of used oil, fluids, and materials in compliance with local regulations
- Never pour used oil or coolant down a drain — use an authorized recycling facility
Customer Areas
- 1
Keep customers out of active bays
- Do not allow customers into active work areas — walk-throughs of completed work are the exception
- Maintain a clean, safe waiting area separate from the work zone
