This Privacy Policy describes how Tekyeka LLC collects, uses, retains, discloses, and deletes your Personal Information on the Tekyeka website and mobile applications (the "Platform"). It also explains the legal rights and options with respect to your information depending on where you reside.
By using the Platform, you confirm that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy, and the applicable Terms of Service (together referred to as the "Agreement").
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Tekyeka LLC ("Tekyeka," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, retains, discloses, and deletes your Personal Information on the Tekyeka website and mobile applications (the "Platform"). It also explains the legal rights and options with respect to your information depending on where you reside.
By using the Platform, you confirm that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy, and the applicable Terms of Service (together referred to as the "Agreement").
2. General Terms
In this Privacy Policy:
- Tekyeka LLC is referred to as "Tekyeka," "we," "our," or "us."
- Users of the Platform (vehicle owners seeking services and automotive service providers performing services) are referred to as "You," "Customer(s)," or "Provider(s)."
- The "Platform" refers to Tekyeka's website at tekyeka.com and its mobile applications.
- "Terms of Service" refers to the Tekyeka Terms of Service governing your use of the Platform. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into, and considered a part of, the Terms of Service.
- "Personal Information" is information that can directly or indirectly identify, or can reasonably identify, an individual, to the extent regulated under applicable privacy laws.
3. Collection of Personal Information
We collect personal information directly from you when you provide it to us or from your use of the Platform. Some examples of Personal Information we collect includes the following:
- Contact Information, such as your first and last name, email address, physical address, and phone number which is needed to set up an account and facilitate service coordination.
- Billing Information, such as your credit or debit card number, expiration date, security code, and zip code for payment processing.
- Identity Information, such as your date of birth, tax ID number (EIN), or government-issued identification documents. For Providers, government-issued ID verification is conducted through Veriff, a third-party identity verification service. Tekyeka does not store images of your identification documents — they are retained and managed solely by Veriff in accordance with Veriff's Privacy Policy. Tekyeka receives only a verification result (approved, declined, or resubmission requested) and a session identifier.
- Biometric Information. As part of our provider verification process, Tekyeka uses Veriff, a third-party identity verification service, to confirm the identity of individuals applying to become providers on our platform. This process includes both document-based verification (scanning a government-issued ID) and biometric verification (a live selfie or short video compared against the submitted ID document). When a provider completes identity verification, Veriff captures images of the provider's government-issued ID and a live facial image or video, and uses biometric technology to compare the two for a match. This information is used solely to verify a provider's identity and prevent fraudulent applications to the Tekyeka platform. We do not use biometric data for any advertising, marketing, or profiling purpose. Veriff OÜ processes and stores this data on Tekyeka's behalf as a data processor under an applicable data processing agreement. Tekyeka does not receive or store the biometric identifier (the facial geometry data generated during comparison) itself. Tekyeka receives only a session identifier and the verification result (approved, declined, or resubmission requested). Biometric data is retained and deleted by Veriff in accordance with Veriff's Privacy Policy and applicable law. Tekyeka does not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from biometric data, and does not disclose it to any party other than Veriff for the purpose described above. Before beginning identity verification, providers are shown a separate consent screen describing this data collection and must affirmatively agree before proceeding. Providers may decline to proceed with verification, in which case they will not be able to complete provider onboarding. Providers with questions about our collection, use, or retention of biometric data, or who wish to make a request regarding their data, may contact us at [email protected].
- Vehicle Information, such as your vehicle's year, make, model, trim, mileage, engine type, transmission, color, and license plate number. This information is used to help Providers prepare accurate quotes and perform services.
- Service Request Information, such as information about the automotive service you are seeking, including the time, date, location, and details of the service needed. If you are a Provider, we also collect information about your services, rates, skills, and certifications.
- Location Data, including data derived from an IP address, city or postal code, or precise latitude/longitude coordinates. This is used to match Customers with nearby Providers. During active mobile service jobs, a Provider's real-time location may be shared with the Customer who booked the service, for the sole purpose of coordinating arrival and service delivery. This location sharing is limited to the duration of the active job.
- User Generated Content Information, such as information submitted via email or chat messages between you and us or between you and other users. This can include photos shared between users via chat related to the service request or vehicle condition.
- Provider Documentation, such as proof of insurance, business licenses, and employer identification numbers (EIN), submitted by Providers during the onboarding process. These documents are stored with encryption at rest and are scanned for malware before storage. They are accessed only by Tekyeka staff for verification purposes.
- Sensitive Provider Identification Information. For Providers, we collect your date of birth (DOB) during the application process solely to verify that you meet the minimum age requirement (18 years or older) to operate as a Provider on the Platform. Your DOB is never shared with customers. Tekyeka does not collect or store your Social Security Number (SSN). Background check screening is initiated through Checkr, Inc., whose hosted page collects any additional sensitive identification information directly from you.
- Background Check Information. Background checks may be conducted through Checkr, Inc. (checkr.com), a third-party Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA) as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Results may include criminal history, sex offender registry checks, and SSN trace. Checkr's Privacy Policy governs their handling of your information. You will receive a separate FCRA disclosure and authorization prior to any background check being initiated. See our FCRA Disclosure.
- AI-Assisted Diagnostic Information, such as vehicle issue descriptions and diagnostic inputs submitted through Tekyeka's AI-assisted service request tools. This information is used solely to generate service request details and improve the Platform.
- Data from Cookies and Similar Technologies as described in our Cookie Policy, which sets out the different categories of cookies and similar technologies that the Platform uses and why we use them.
- Device Data, including data about the type of device or browser you use, your device's operating system, internet service provider, device's regional and language settings, and device identifiers such as IP address.
- Service Use Data, including your activities on the Platform's features and webpages, the time of day you browse, and emails and notifications that you view and may interact with.
